Here you can read a part of the statement of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which concerns the tourist season and travel to Greece.
The Prime Minister is aware that the conditions of entry into the GR as well as the land and air control cannot yet be precisely defined. However, what is certain for now is that the opening of hotels that are open all year round is expected (June 1), while seasonal hotels and other accommodation units should start opening at the beginning of July, when the opening of borders is expected (primarily for air traffic) with very strict health protocols.
The government plans for this year's tourist season to be at its peak during July, August and September, but it also expresses hope that the season will continue during October and November.
In any case, this implies that international flights and ferries are established on time.
At the end of the statement, the Prime Minister optimistically concluded:
- It will be a different summer, but we hope that the worst is behind us. What I keep as the legacy of this crisis is a sense of collective success and I dare use the word, pride. The Greeks were not proud for a long, long time, because for ten years we were a country for undermining the whole of Europe.
